Who we are
The Forney Legacy Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt organization created in 2021 and formalized the same year. The purpose of the project is to offer financial support to individuals and families experiencing unexpected trauma and financial hardship, such as the loss of a loved one, major health diagnoses, house fires, and other unforeseen financial setbacks and offer start up funds to new Forney ISD PTO’s.
The Forney Legacy Project was born from a shared commitment to make a positive impact within our community. Our founders, Lisa Cowan, Ashley Paulson, and Wynona Beyer, originally connected while serving on a PTO in Forney ISD. As small business owners involved in direct sales - Lisa with Tastefully Simple, Ashley with her online boutique Lilly Blaze Boutique, and Wynona with Scentsy - we recognized the potential of combining our passions for entrepreneurships and community service.
Our journey began when we organized a virtual vendor craft show during Covid to raise funds for two local students facing different types of leukemia. That experience inspired us to formalize our efforts, and thus, the Forney Legacy Project was born. Our mission continues focusing on supporting those in need within our community.
